Italian Charms Can Make Returning to School More Interesting

The mornings are clear and cool now. Leaves on trees are starting to turn bright shades of orange, yellow and red. The air is cooler. Squirrels are starting to gather their stash of seeds and nuts. These are the changes we notice when Autumn is approaching. Another indication of Fall: the beginning of a fresh school year. Parents anticipate this event each year, wanting their kids to return to structured routine; hoping educational stimuli will challenge their children’s minds; wishing friendship experiences will go well.

This has been a summer of significant change for our family. As a result of my career, I have been transferred to another state. What was in the beginning exciting for my kids in exploring their new environment, now proves to be daunting in their anticipation of entering a new school. Their apprehension looms, not in the educational sense, but as far as making new friends and being socially accepted. I have given both of my kids a present to let them know how important and unique they really are and to try to enhance their confidence. These gifts are Italian charms.

My son is an avid Green Bay Packers fan, so he would greatly appreciate that Italian charm. He has aspirations of attending college at the University of Michigan, so the blue and gold “M” Italian charm would also please him. Since football is his favorite sport, the Italian charms of the football, the lasered “I (heart) Football”, and football helmet are added. The selections of these Italian charms make a personal statement for him. He can add additional Italian charms as he pleases.
